Bottom line up front: I’m asking folks to donate a wreath or two to be placed at the grave of Veteran buried at the Jerome or Rock Creek Cemetery. The wreaths are $15 each. They can be purchased at this link:
https://www.
Please share this posting with anyone you can including friends, family and coworkers however you’d like. Last year we found success through Social Media in the beginning but it waned in the last year. Perhaps some fresh shares from friends would help.
Story: We are sure all of you have seen the wreaths placed at veteran markers in the national and local cemeteries. Those wreaths are not paid for by the Veterans Administration, they are donations. A non profit called “Wreaths Across America” or simply “WAA” is responsible for most you have seen.
WAA currently delivers to the Jerome Cemetery. Several years ago there were 15 wreaths delivered each year. With the hard work of a lady named Annie whose husband is buried in Jerome and a few others, we have been able to increase that number to well over 100.
There are 860 Veterans interred in Jerome including a couple Civil War era Vets. We would love to see us do a better job getting wreaths for those Veterans. We also take a few wreaths to the Rock Creek Cemetery, AKA the Magic Valley Veteran’s Cemetery, south of Hansen.
If someone purchases a wreath and would like it placed at a grave in Sunset Park in Twin Falls, we will personally make sure it gets delivered. Others will be working to try to get more support to Sunset Park in the future.
The Magic Valley will be getting a VA Cemetery in Buhl soon. We are hoping we can get some traction on this so that we are prepared to make sure every marker has a wreath.
Joining Forces Magic Valley has joined in on this.
We will let folks know if we get to a point of needing volunteers to place the wreaths. Anyone is welcome to come out on 15 December 2018 at 1 PM no matter how many we raise.
The cut-off for purchase through WAA is 26 November.
Thank you for your time and consideration.
